Today was possibly my last chance to see ARTISTRY IN SILK: THE KIMONO OF ITCHIKU KUBOTA Curated by: Jacqueline Marx Atkins which closes on May 13. I took the opportunity to draw impressions of two more of the Kimono

Two "Belgic" Pedestal Urns, La Tène III Earthenware Gaulish, 100-25 BC 
This pottery was introduce to Britain from Gaul (France) in the 1st century BC. Typical "Belgic" jars are angular or have a series of cordons or Bulges on the shoulders.

This was excavated from a site in Moorgate Street. London. Human-shaped masks appear in two locations on Medieval English jugs - on the body of the vessel or on the spout.

Back. Conical Jug Red The green colour of the glaze derives from copper compounds/ Red earthenware. lead glazed. 1200 - 1300s  930.14.9

Front. Blaster - shaped jug with Rouen - type decoration. England, London, 1200s 9216.1
The surface has been smeared with yellow slip and decorated with raised lines and dots. Contrast of red-yellow or red- white are typical of such decoration
